Forza Napoli, Giesing

Perhaps one of Munich’s best kept secrets (for now), Forza Napoli is a food truck in the south of the city. Albeit a stationary one.

Serving piping hot Neapolitan pizza, the truck first appeared in April this year. It is currently only open for business on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Located in a residential area, in what appears to be a car mechanic’s yard, it’s not the easiest bite to find. Your best bet is to head towards the nearby Giesinger brewery (quick drink optional) and look for the steps that lead down to the street below. Turn right at the bottom and you’ll see the sign, if not the truck. There’s normally a small crowd of people gathered in front – either waiting for their order or seeing what’s going on – so look out for them too. While you wait in line, you’ll notice the phone continually rings. Despite the truck not having wheels, they still offer a delivery service to people living nearby (check their website for an up-to-date list of reachable postcodes). Orders can also be placed via WhatsApp.

We actually recommend pick up though. Not only is it 10 percent cheaper, it’s also part of the fun. Despite the truck being small, it still manages to hold roaring ovens running at 450 degrees, a considerable amount of staff and a lot of dough and mozzarella!
