There’s a new kid in town. And Munich’s coffee crowd is excited.
sweet spot kaffee is a much-needed addition to the city centre, serving the kind of flat whites you normally only find in some of Munich’s trendier districts. And when I say city centre, I mean it. This place is located in a small street very close to Viktualienmarkt and Marienplatz.
Run by coffee enthusiast Markus Pyttel, the parallels to some of the city’s top spots for a caffeine hit are no coincidence. In the run up to the opening of his own store, Markus perfected the art of crema and milk froth at a number of local favourites – from Café Blá to Standl 20 and Bean Batter.
Markus had been contemplating the idea of stepping out on his own for a while, but finally decided to take a shot at it earlier this year.
“I kept getting stuck in ‘sensible’ jobs,” he told me, “but then I decided that now was the time to sensibly do something that was possibly wasn’t sensible!”
sweet spot kaffee opened in September and judging by the happy and constant crowd, it seems he made a good move at the right moment.
The coffee is his own blend, developed together with local roaster at jb Kaffee. It’s fruity, dynamic and delicious – and goes very well with a sweet Franzbrötchen.
