Faber Breakfast, Altstadt

Cosy, dark and atmospheric, this new breakfast joint feels more like a bar than a cafe. Because it is. Faber Breakfast has taken up residence in one of the city’s finest cocktail bars: Bar Garçon.

Run by Leon Hänseler and Hannah Gratzfeld, the pop-up is currently a six-month experiment, but if all goes well the duo hope to open their own location in the city.

Their concept is inspired by the cafes (and menus) they discovered during a stint in Berlin and brings an international flair to Munich’s breakfast scene. Expect bagels rather than pretzels and Eggs Benedict rather than Weißwurst.

The menu is small, but experimental, and changes weekly. And by weekly, I mean every weekend, as they are only open on Saturday and Sunday.

And should you need a follow up to breakfast, they also have an excellent selection of cakes, not to mention great coffee.

With brunch during the day and cosmopolitans at night, it’s certainly an address worth knowing. And wherever they end up, I’ll be sure to follow.
